Gunnery Sergeant Joshua D. Zetzer, 35, of Menifee, CA, and formerly Port Clinton, OH died July 31, 2021 in Menifee, CA. He was born on June 20, 1986 in Port Clinton, OH to Joseph Zetzer and Theresa Wilson. Joshua graduated from Port Clinton High School in 2004. GySgt Zetzer enlisted in the Marine Corps in December of 2004. During his 17 years in the Marine Corps, Gunnery Sergeant Joshua D. Zetzer spent time stationed in Iwakuni, Japan; Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii; Fort Hood, Texas; Camp Pendleton, California; West Bend, Wisconsin and back to Camp Pendleton, California. He also spent time in Korea, Afghanistan and Louisiana for a Joint Service Mission. GySgt Zetzer proved to be the “Go-To” Marine, regardless of the task required. Always leaning forward, GySgt Zetzer was the right Marine at every calling. He was always considered the strongest of his peer group – regardless of situation or assignment. He loved to work on cars and dirt bikes and was especially interested in motocross. He enjoyed riding dirt bikes as a hobby. He also enjoyed drinking beer, especially PBR and Coors Light. If you couldn’t find him at the track, you could find him in his garage. Joshua is survived by his wife, Ashlee N. Zetzer (Geib) of Edwards, CA; 9 month old son, Jaxson W. Zetzer of Edwards, CA; 11 year old son, Hunter W. Zetzer of Waynesville, MO; father, Joseph D. Zetzer of Parma, OH; and sister, Allison J. Ashton (Zetzer) of Parma, OH. He was preceded in death by his mother; infant daughter, Emma Lynn; and infant sister, Misty Lynn. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 20, 2021 at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 216 Washington St., Port Clinton, OH, where funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton with full military honors.
