Gwendolyn Katherine Deeb, age 97, of Toledo, died May 18, 2021. She was born June 24, 1923 in Connellsville, Pa. to the late Rezit “Ray” and Bader (Abouassaley) Deeb. Gwen graduated from Woodward High School in 1941 and worked in payroll for the Lumm Company for many years. Gwen was fun-loving, positive, and giving by nature. She enjoyed taking care of her family as a skilled cook and Lebanese pastry chef, going for day trips in her beloved pink convertible, and offering perfectly wrapped and bowed gifts at Christmas, her favorite holiday. Gwen also liked to “visit the casino”, go grape leaf picking, and she had a beautiful singing voice. She often advised her family to “live life and be happy”. Left to cherish her memory are her nieces and nephews, Carol Myatt, Fred George Deeb, Mickey Howard, Marcia Deeb, Ray George Deeb and Troy (Michael) Alexander; numerous great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. Gwen was preceded in death by sister and brother-in-law George and Beatrice Howard; brother George Deeb; brother and sister-in-law Joe and Dorothy Deeb; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Deeb; and nieces, Linda and Deborah Deeb. Visitation will be Monday from 2-8 p.m. at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Cathedral, 3754 Woodley Rd., Toledo, OH 43606, where Trisagion prayers will begin at 7:00 p.m. Additional visitation in the church will be held Tuesday, May 25, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Forest Cemetery, Toledo. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. George Cathedral.
