Guthrie G. Hillix Jr (Gus) 86 of Perrysburg, Ohio died Monday December 17, 2012 at The Wellington of Dayton. He was born in St. Joseph, Missouri on July 24, 1926 to Guthrie and Claudia Hillix. Gus Graduated from Central High School in St. Joe where he was a multi-sport athlete. Gus attended the the University of Missouri at Columbia. He was an avid golfer with two holes in one. Gus spent the majority of his professional life with the Johns Manville Corporation where he was District Manager of the Year in 1978 and was later inducted into the Quarter Century Club. He was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church for 35 years where he held several volunteer positions. Gus was also an active member of the Perrysburg Booster Club. He also spent 7 years as Seabee Battalion US Navy Reserves. Gus was a loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, Step Mother Fannie Hillix and wife of 53 years Ursula Hillix. He is survived by daughter, Claudia Hillix-Zbinden; son, Hugh (Kimberly) Hillix; grandchildren Zachery Zbinden, Sara Hillix, Jacob Hillix and David Hillix. Friends will be received from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, December 21, 2012 in the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E.S. Boundary St., Perrysburg, Ohio (419-874-3133). Funeral services will begin at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Grace United Methodist Church, 601 East Boundary St., Perrysburg, Ohio. Burial will follow at Fort Meigs Union Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Grace United Methodist and the American Cancer Association.
