Gretchen Lee Taylor age 77 of Toledo passed away Saturday May 16th, 2009 at her home. Born Gretchen Lee Williamson March 14th 1932 in Ypsilanti, Michigan to parents Dr. Frederick B. Ted Williamson and Phyllis DeHart Clifford Williamson. Her only brother John b.1935 preceded her in death in 2007. Gretchen attended Roosevelt High School, Denison University, and Michigan Normal College Eastern Mich Univ.. She was active in cheer leading, horseback riding, girl scouts, and choir. She was copy editor of Denison Universitys Weekly News and a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. She married Dr. Ward M. Taylor on August 26th 1955 . During the 1950s and 1960s Gretchen and Ward lived in Traverse City, Detroit, East Lansing, and Lathrop Village Michigan and raised two children David and Julie. In 1971 they moved to Toledo. Gretchen was actively involved in the Mobile Meals program. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and beloved grandmother. She is survived by husband Ward M. Taylor MD, son David W. Taylor and his wife Audene E. Taylor, daughter Julie C. Taylor ex Kitzler, and grandchildren Wade Hampton Taylor, Eli Whitney Taylor, F. Taylor Kitzler, Rachel Lauren Kitzler, and Joseph Johnston Taylor. Her last days were spent at home lovingly surrounded by family and nurses from Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Visitation is Tuesday 4pm to 8pm at Walker Funeral Home 5155 W. Sylvania Ave west of Corey Rd. Funeral services Wednesday 11am same location. Donations may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
