Gregory A. Placko-Ryan

On Sunday, July 15, 2018, 43 year-old Gregory passed away. Greg was born in Toledo, Ohio, on November 17, 1974, to Donald A. and Judith A. (Ryan) Placko. Greg was a 1993 graduate of Genoa High School, where he excelled at sports, particularly golf. His high school golf team participated in State Championship play. His pitching arm earned him a spot on the baseball team, and for a while he held the record for three pointers in basketball. While living in Florida, Greg worked at Heritage Harbor Golf Club in Lutz, Florida. His happiness came from helping and encouraging others to better their game-the proof of a true pro! Greg was employed with Calphalon in Perrysburg, Ohio, as a forklift operator. His work ethic and friendly manner meant he was thought of as a good associate. Greg is survived and sadly missed by his mother, Judy Placko, son, William Ryan, brother, David R. Placko and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his father, Don. A memorial service for Greg will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 4, 2018, at St. Johns United Church of Christ, 1213 Washington St., Genoa. Interment will be private in Clay Township Cemetery. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be directed to the Genoa Golf Scholarship of the Genoa Area Local Schools Scholarship Foundation, Genoa Bank, P.O. Box 98, Genoa, Ohio 43430. The Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory of Genoa has assisted the family with arrangements.
