Gregory Allen Bieszczad, P.E. (age 65) of Perrysburg, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday the 16th of February, 2021. Greg was born on the 20th of May 1955 to Darrell and Rita Bieszczad by which he is survived. He was a devoted and beloved father, son, brother, and friend. He will be missed terribly. Born and raised in Toledo, Ohio, Greg attended St. Hyacinth’s as a child and graduated from St. Francis De Sales in 1973, going on to obtain his degree in civil engineering from the University of Toledo. Greg was a Senior Vice President at Poggemeyer Design Group in Bowling Green, Ohio. He enjoyed greatly his 40-year long, civil engineering career, leading many projects that served the Northwest and greater Ohio community. In 2016, Greg served as the president of Toledo Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and was awarded Engineer of the Year by ASCE in 2017. He served on the ASCE board until his passing. Greg was devoted to his family and provided immeasurable support to them. His family cherished all the time they spent together. He enjoyed many things: researching historical events, cooking, working on his house, and traveling with his daughters. He loved learning new languages; most recent, Polish and German. Greg was interested and very knowledgeable about native plants and birds. He stayed active in the Perrysburg community, making many friends along the way. He served four years on the Perrysburg Board of Zoning Appeals, helped design Fort Imagination in Woodland Park, took part in fundraising events for cancer, and helped with the Kip Boulis run, among many other community activities. Greg is survived by his two daughters Kirsten Bieszczad and Sarah Bieszczad (Simon Zingerle) as well as his siblings Scott Bieszczad, Carla Eckel (Gary), Paul Bieszczad (Lisa Managhan) along with their daughter Elly Bieszczad. Greg had a special place in his heart for his beloved parrot Oliver. A celebration of Greg’s life will be held at a later date in warmer weather.
