Grant E. Lt. Col. Gabriel

October 5, 1959 — February 2, 2011

Gabriel Lieutenant Colonel Grant E. Lieutenant Colonel Grant E. Gabriel passed into the hands of our Heavenly Father at the age of 51 on February 2, 2011 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo after a courageous battle with kidney cancer. Grant was born October 5, 1959 in Toledo, OH to Gary and Marilyn Gabriel. A graduate of St. Johns Jesuit High School, he received a Bachelors Degree from the University of Toledo, a Masters Degree from the University of Cincinnati, a Juris Doctorate from the University of Toledo, College of Law, and a Masters Degree in Tax Law from Boston University. After successfully achieving his Certified Public Accountant status, Lt. Col. Gabriel worked as a tax lawyer with the IRS offices in Washington, D.C. and Detroit, MI. He had many tours of duty as a member of the U.S. Army Reserve serving in South Korea, Germany and most recently, Iraq. Grant is survived by his loving sons, David and Alex; mother, Marilyn L. Gabriel; father, Gary E. Gabriel; sister, Kathy Carlson Steve Babcock; many nieces and nephews; and his former wife, Pamelia Gabriel. A Soldiers Prayer When I am called to serve, Dear Lord, Wherever war may be, Give me courage to fight the battles, My country may ask of me. Grace me with Your presence, And know that I love You, While I fight the enemy, My country needs me to. Help me protect my comrades, As You expect me to, And keep me in Your loving hands, While I do what I must do. I want to do my duty, And to give the best in me, To do what Ive been called to do, And protect our liberty. And if, according to Your will, I must give up my life, Please bless with Your protecting hand, My children and my wife. Visitation for friends and family will be Sunday, February 6, 2011 from 2-7:00pm at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd.. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Monday, February 7, 2011 at All Saints Lutheran Church, 5445 Heatherdowns Blvd. Toledo, OH. The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, especially Grants angelic nurses, Karen and Patty. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E. River Rd. Perrysburg, OH 43551 or the charity of the donors choice.
