Grace “Pat” Keivens has left this world surrounded by her loving family on July 12, 2024, just weeks short of her 95th birthday. She was born the oldest of nine children to Henry and Luvie (Browning) Oien on August 8, 1929, in Toledo, Ohio.
Pat married the love of her life, Wade E. Keivens on August 24, 1946, until his passing in 1973. Never wanting to remarry, she often spoke of how much she missed him. Loving thanks to her brother, Jim for being there. He was her sounding board and travel partner.
Her driving force was her love of children. She spent her energy and time caring for her children, and then their children. She returned to school and became a teacher’s aide, again caring for children. She was always caring for someone!
She loved to fish, be by the water, and play cards, especially Pinochle and Euchre. Then, and only then, would you see her competitive side.
Left to cherish her memory, children, Kathy Holder, Keith (Sandy) Keivens, Karen Keivens Gill, Daniel (Becky) Keivens, Sherry Keivens, Delbert (Mary) Keivens, Linda (Daryl) Henzler; and over 40 grandchildren, including great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at Walker Funeral Home (5155 W. Sylvania Ave.) on Wednesday, July 17, from 5 pm – 8 pm, with a funeral the next day at 11 am. Interment at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park will follow.
Anyone wishing to contribute to her services, please do so in the form of foliage. Mom loved her plants and flowers.
