Gordon Lamar Gould, 89, of Perrysburg, Ohio and formerly of Swanton, Ohio, peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on Monday, March 13, 2023. He is survived by sons, Randy (Debbie) and Terry (Lynne), many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by wife, Jane (Smith), son, Gary, and many family members.
Gordie married his high school sweetheart, Jane. They were blessed with three boys that over time led to a large family that he was so proud of and loved dearly. Gordie grew up an only child but married into Jane’s family of 12 siblings and their families. The Smith Family embraced him as one of their own and he was forever grateful. Family meant the world to him they never ran out of events to go to in such a large family.
Besides his family, Gordie was most proud that he was on the Grand Rapids, Ohio basketball team that won the State Championship in 1951.
Gordie worked for and retired from Toledo Edison. He and his wife, Jane, ran several businesses over the years including Swanton Flower and Bridal Shop, Gordie’s Hotdog, and antique sales. He worked until he was 88 years old and loved working with the men and women at his post-retirement job at ABC Auto Auction in Perrysburg. He was a former volunteer with the Swanton Rescue Unit.
Ask anyone about Gordie and they would say “He was the nicest man they ever met.” He was always very generous and loving. His good humor and laugh will be sorely missed.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 18, from 10 am to 1 pm with the funeral service immediately following at Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home in Maumee, Ohio. Consider a memorial donation to Tunnels to Towers Foundation or Wood County Humane Society.
