Gloria M. Streiffert
Gloria Streiffert passed away on July 25, 2026, at Ohio Living Swan Creek in Toledo, where she had resided since 2021. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Mary (Roffe) and Ennio "Daniel" Guazzaloca, she was very proud of her Italian heritage. She graduated from South Philadelphia High School for Girls. The first time she voted was for Franklin D. Roosevelt for his fourth term, and she remembered how all the students gathered in the school gym to hear his famous "Day of Infamy" speech after the attack on Pearl Harbor. Her first job was with the Girard Trust Company in Philadelphia, working at City Hall. She met her soulmate, who was from the Toledo area, at a U.S.O. and they corresponded for three years while he served in Europe during World War II. After the war, they married and lived in Elmore, Ohio, and then in Maumee, Ohio. She worked for Title Guarantee and Trust Company in Toledo until they started their family. She was a full-time mom while her three daughters and one son were growing up. She was a Brownie Scout leader for her girls and a Cub Scout den mother for her son.
Gloria was the manager of the Maumee Indoor Theatre for 10 years, retiring in 1986. She also worked part-time at Old Tyme Glass and Cristallo Glass in Maumee. She was a member of the Manhattan Dance Company for nine years, and made some of their dance costumes. She was also a member of Tolemates of Northwest Ohio, a decorative arts group that painted the ponies on the old carousel at the Toledo Zoo. She volunteered at the former Medical College of Ohio and as an usher at the Stranahan Theater. She and her husband were 50-year members of the Maumee United Methodist Church.
Gloria is survived by her children, Patricia (Rick) Willey of Delaware, Ohio; Nicolette (Bill) Farrell of Maumee, Ohio; Roger (Roberta) Streiffert of Toledo, Ohio; and Loretta (Wade) Willey of Delta, Ohio. She was a grandmother of seven and a great-grandmother of six. Predeceasing her was her husband of 65 years, Glenn Streiffert; her brothers, Richard and Donald Guazzaloca; and her great-granddaughter, Gabriella Farrell.
Friends and family will be received Thursday, July 30, 2026 from 5-7 P.M. at Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee, where funeral services will be held Friday, July 31, 2026 at 10 A.M. Burial will be held at Noon at Harris-Elmore Union Cemetery. Condolences may be made online to the family at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com.
