Gloria E. Mahler

Gloria E. Mahler, 74, of Port Clinton, OH, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky, OH. She was born in Wyandotte, MI on October 08, 1933, the daughter of Howard and Mabel Ramsdell Mackey. She graduated from Port Clinton High School in 1952. On August 27, 1955 in Gypsum, OH she married Jack J. Mahler and he preceded her in death on April 25, 2006. Gloria served as a US Army nurse in Japan. She worked in the cafeteria for the Port Clinton City Schools for over 20 years and was known as the Cafeteria Lady, Gloria also worked as a nurse at Standard Products, before the kids. She was a very active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Marblehead, OH. Gloria was a member of the Lutheran Brotherhood, and the V.F.W. Homer D. Gardner Post #2480. She loved crocheting sweaters for all her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Gloria enjoyed gardening and especially loved growing her violet plants. She will be greatly missed by her loving family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. Survivors include: Sons: Joseph Amy Mahler of Wooster, OH and Douglas Roberta Mahler of Port Clinton, OH; Daughter: Sidney Smith of Port Clinton, OH; 8 Grandchildren; 3 Great-Great-Grandchild; Brothers: Ronald Janice Mackey of San Diego, CA and Howard Paula Mackey of Oak Harbor, OH and Sister: LuAnne John Forbes of Perrysburg, OH. Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother: Vern Mackey. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8PM, Sunday, March 2, 2008, in the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home, Port Clinton, OH. Funeral services will be conducted by Reverend Chris Young at 10:30AM, Monday, March 3, 2008 in the funeral home. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton, OH, where the V.F.W. will perform a Military Graveside service. Memorial contributions in Glorias memory can be given to the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky, OH.
