Gloria A. Drake

Gloria A. (Fluharty) Drake, 90, of Sylvania, formerly of Holland, Ohio, passed away on December 26, 2016 at the Kingston Residence of Sylvania. She was born on March 1, 1926 in Roseville, Ohio to J.C. and Charlotte (Kendall) Fluharty. On January 23, 1954, Gloria married her love, Donald L. Drake, who preceded her in death in 2004. Gloria earned her Nursing Degree and worked at Maumee Valley Hospital and then the former Medical College of Ohio Hospital. She retired but continued working at the Eye Institute of Northwest Ohio in Maumee. Gloria was a member of Westgate Chapel. She enjoyed spending her time volunteering at the Toledo Zoo and Toledo Botanical Gardens. She loved taking day trips with her husband, Don, and being active in her children’s and grandchildren’s lives. Gloria also liked attending craft shows, shopping, and snacking on chocolates, popcorn, and peanuts. Her kind greeting cards will be missed by all her family and friends. Gloria is survived by her loving children, Alan (Freda) Drake, and Lisa (John) Schaupp; grandchildren, Nicholas (Jenni) Drake, Jordan Drake, Jacob Schaupp, Emily Schaupp; great-grandchildren, Lyndsay Drake and Evan Drake. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Donald L. Drake; parents; and twelve siblings. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, December 29, 2016 from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Neville Funeral Home, Southwest Chapel, 7438 Airport Highway, Holland, OH 43528 (419-865-8879). A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, December 30, 2016 beginning at 11:00 A.M. Entombment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
