Glenn Streiffert, 90, passed away at The University of Toledo Medical College on June 22, 2011. He was born in Elmore, Ohio to Nettie Heinaman and Edward Streiffert. A veteran of WWII he served in Europe with the Third Army under General Patton. Glenn was a member of the 256 Ordnance Co., and survived the Battle of the Bulge. While on leave in Philadelphia, he met his life companion, Gloria Guazzaloca, and they corresponded for three years. Glenn and Gloria were married in 1946 after the war. He continued his government service at the Erie Ordnance Depot and he also worked 15 years at the Rossford Ordnance until it closed. Glenn also worked at Jeep, Dohler Jarvis, and Teledyne in the Toledo area for the Department of Defense Contract Administration Services Office as an inspector and quality control specialist. He was a 50 year member of The United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Gloria; his daughters, Patricia Rick Willey, Nicolette William Farrell, Loretta Wade Willey and son, Roger Streiffert. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Family and friends may call at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St., Maumee on Sunday, June 26, 2011 from 4-8 pm, where funeral services will be held on Monday at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery, Elmore, Ohio. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Maumee United Methodist Church, 405 Sackett St., Maumee, Ohio 43537.
