Glenn D. Sondergeld, 83, of Genoa, died Monday morning, September 16, 2013, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg, Ohio. Glenn was born in Graytown, Ohio, to the late Rolla and Evelyn Wolter Sondergeld on July 26, 1930. He was a 1948 graduate of Harris-Elmore High School and a Korean Veteran, serving from 1951-1953. On August 7, 1954, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Genoa, he married Janet M. Coleman, who survives. Glenn retired in 1990 after 30 years as a lineman at Toledo Edison. In his early years, he worked for Roloffs in Trowbridge. Glenn was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Genoa. His other memberships included a 50-year member of the Genoa Masonic Lodge #433, the Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of Oak Harbor, the Grand Council of Ohio, and the Grand Lodge of Free & Accepted Masons. In his leisure time, Glenn enjoyed fishing and camping. In addition to his loving wife of 54 years, Janet, Glenn is survived by his brothers, Gordon Betty, Robert J. Meta and Raymond Leona Sondergeld, all of Genoa, his sister, Carol Barkhau of Elmore, granddaughter, Jaclyn Matt Herman and great granddaughter, Deanna Herman, both of Genoa. His parents and daughter, Deanna Sondergeld, preceded him in death. A memorial service for Glenn will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 20, 2013, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 313 Main St., Genoa, with a luncheon and fellowship gathering to follow at the church. The graveside service will take place at 1:30 p.m. in Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa. Memorials for Glenn may be directed to Deanna Sondergeld Scholarship Fund, c/o Genoa Bank, P.O. Box 98, Genoa, OH 43430. The Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory of Genoa has assisted the family with arrangements.
