Glenn Richard Ruihley, age 87, passed away on December 12, 2011 at Sylvania Care and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on July 6, 1924 in Toledo, Ohio to Elliot and Beatrice Gieser Ruihley. Glenn served in the U.S. Army and received an honorable discharge. He worked for the State Department and was stationed in Guayaquil, Ecuador and Paris, France. Glenn also worked as a courier for the United States State Department and was a very well traveled man. He earned his doctorate at the University of Wisconsin in History, attended school in New Mexico and earned a degree in English at the University of Michigan. As a professor at Eastern Michigan University, he authored 3 books, Shard of Silence, Anthology of Greatest Women Poets, and August Ruihley. Glenn was preceded in death by his father, Elliot Ruihley and mother, Beatrice Ruihley. He is survived by his brother, Wayne Howard Ruihley; sister, Beatrice Ruihley Faunce and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be no services. Arrangements by the Walker Funeral Home 419.841.2422.
