Glenn O. Kersten

November 3, 1930 — January 4, 2018

Glenn O. Kersten, 87, of Perrysburg, Ohio, and formerly of Graytown, Ohio, died peacefully on Thursday, January 4, 2018, in his home. He was born in Trowbridge, Ohio, on November 3, 1930, the son of Otto and Elsie (Reideman) Kersten. Glenn was a graduate of Elmore High School Class of 1948. On November 15, 1952, he married the love of his life, Marcia L. Deitzel, in St. Marks Lutheran Church, Toledo. Glenn started his career as a truck driver for the former Ross Concrete Co. of Woodville, Ohio, where he worked for 19 years. He later constructed grain bins and metal farm buildings for the Crozier Construction Co. of Elmore, Ohio, and Clere Adkins Construction Co. until his retirement in 1993. Glenn was also a farmer. He loved to work, but his priority was spending time with his family. Whether at home or at the family cabin on Bright Lake in Ontario, Canada, great times were had by all. Hunting and fishing were also pastimes he enjoyed. He and his wife have been longtime members of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Blackberry. Glenn was always proud to have delivered the concrete used for building the new church. Glenn is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Marcia, son, Ron (Brenda) Kersten, daughter, Janice (Patrick) Cassity. Glenn will fondly be remembered by his grandchildren Melissa Smiley, Laura (Dan) Nowak, Michael (Jessica) Kersten, Steven Cassity and Thomas Cassity, great grandchildren, Kendall, Morgan, Alayna, Ava and Bradan, and daughter-in-law, Lois Kersten. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Myron and Wesley Kersten, sister, Jeanette Lenz and his son, David Kersten. Visitation for Glenn will be held from 3-7 p.m., Monday, January 8, 2018, in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, 501 West St. Genoa. The funeral service will be conducted at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Blackberry, at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 9, 2018, with additional visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Limestone Cemetery, Graytown. The family has suggested that memorial contributions be directed to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E. River Rd., Perrysburg, Ohio 43551; or St. Peter Lutheran Church, 17877 W. St. Rt. 579, Martin, OH 43445.
