Glenn Albert Honnor

Glenn A. Honner passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Parkcliffe Alzheimers Community one day before his 89th birthday. He was born to Albert and Esther Honner in Perrysburg, Ohio, on February 11, 1923, and graduated from Perrysburg High School in 1940. Glenn served in the Army 1110th Engineers Combat Group in Normandy Northern France and Central Europe and was honorably discharged in November 1945. He graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1950 and lettered in baseball all four years. He was a lifetime member of the Falcon Club. Glenn was well known in Toledo Federation baseball and was a member of the Maumee Exchange Club and Quality of Life. He was also a councilman and usher at St. Joseph Church for many years. Glenn retired as Plant Manager of Ag Fertilizer at The Andersons in 1984. He is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Rita Brahier Honner, along with their two daughters Pamela Hal Honner-Licht of Manhattan Beach, CA, and Diane Paul Forquer, Toledo. Also surviving is a brother, Donald Bertha Honner and grandchildren Megan Pablo Kovacs, Adam and Evan Licht, Ryan Tasha Forquer, and Lindsay Taylor Sopko. Glenn was predeceased by his parents, brother Edward and sister Marilyn. Special thanks to the caring staff at Parkcliffe Building 7. Visitation for Glenn will be Thursday, February 16, 2012, from 3:00-7:00 p.m. at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, Maumee. Prayers will begin in the funeral home on Friday, February 17, 2012 at 10:30 am followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 104 W. Broadway, Maumee. Interment will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed towards St. Joseph Catholic Church, Maumee, Pauls Peers Respite Care c/o St. Pauls Episcopal Church, 310 Elizabeth Street, Maumee, or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
