Glenn Eugene Hall, age 83, of Maumee, Ohio passed away surrounded by his family on Monday, December 29, 2014 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. He was born on April 21, 1931 to Lester and Irene (Routzahn) Hall in Republic, Ohio. After graduating as valedictorian from Scipio-Republic High School, Glenn farmed until age 25, and starting in 1954 served in the Army for two years. After his military service, Glenn attended Michigan State and received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and a Master’s degree in Agricultural Engineering. He worked at the Ohio Research and Development Center in Wooster, Ohio, from 1960 until 1968, and within that period earned a Ph.D. in Agricultural Engineering from Michigan State University. In 1968 Glenn became an assistant professor at the University of Illinois, where he served for five years. He was knighted as a Knight of Saint Patrick at the College of Engineering. Glenn returned to northwest Ohio in 1974 and was employed for 27 years at The Andersons in Maumee, in the Research and Development department. He received seven patents during his career, involving his work with grain handling and products derived from grains. After his retirement, Glenn and his wife, Sylvia, enjoyed trips to Alaska, Hawaii, Central America, and the Caribbean Islands. He was a member of the Tau Beta Pi, Phi Lambda Tau, and Pi Tau Sigma engineering honor societies. He was also a member of the American Society of Agricultural Engineers. He is survived by his wife Sylvia, his sister Velma (Dale) Stacy of Green Springs, Ohio, adopted daughters Christine and Melissa, three stepchildren, and many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews. Glenn was preceded in death by his brother Carl earlier this year. Glenn had requested that there be no public visitation and desired a private funeral.
