Gladys P Graetz

January 2, 1930 — September 17, 2011

Gladys P. (Bowermaster) Graetz, 81, passed away on Saturday September 17, 2011 surrounded by her loving family. Gladys was born on January 2, 1930 in Bowersville, Ohio and in 1967, she married Robert 'Bob' Graetz with whom she enjoyed 41 years of marriage. A hairdresser since 1946, Gladys owned and operated four beauty salons during her career, one in Cincinnati, and three here in Toledo. She retired from her salon, Fashion Manor at Reynolds Corners in 1979. In 1977 Gladys and Bob became foster parents continuing through 2002, fostering over 400 children, including four that they adopted. Gladys could grow flowers even in soil as tough as clay and nurturing stray cats and dogs were hobbies that she truly was passionate about. Her bliss was definitely her caring and compassionate ways and how she could never say “no” to a child or animal that needed love and attention. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, and her loving husband, Robert 'Bob' Graetz. She is survived by brother, Dallas (Phyllis) Blanton, sisters: Carol McCormick-Arentz, and Mariellen Teeters. Gladys also leaves behind her beloved children: Patrick (Gayle) O'Riordon , Thomas (Patricia) O'Riordon, Diane Lee (Doug) Thober, Coreen (Thomas) Floering, Debra Steele, William (Kim) Graetz, Catrina (Gary) Cann, Diane Graetz, Nancy (Kurt) Sanders, and Robert Graetz.. She is also survived by her 20 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. In harmony with Gladys' wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service. Contributions may be made in her name to the Toledo Humane Society, 1920 Indian Wood Circle Maumee , Ohio 43537. Arrangements by Neville Funeral Home, Reynolds Corners Chapel, (419-535-0951).
