Ginny Gomer, 58 years young, passed away on Monday, October 24, 2022. Ginny, or as she affectionately (and confidently) referred to herself, “Foxy Mama”, was born in Evansville, IN to Robert and Sandra (Kay) Phillips on June 15, 1964. Ginny had a heart of gold and was truly an amazing soul. Her nurturing and caring disposition allowed her to lift the spirit of all those around her. Technically, she had six children, but every young person she met became her honorary child; always putting others needs before her own and helping people through difficult times. Ginny loved a good cup of coffee (or three or four!), comfort foods, and her favorite salad. Laughing and goofing around was a trademark of Ginny’s, she always wanted those around her to feel comfortable and have a good time. She was a talented majorette in her childhood and excelled at playing the flute. Ginny loved dancing and sharing her joy with others. Even though Ginny was somewhat of a “Mama Bear”, everyone who knew her knew tigers were her spirit animal – she doesn’t have a room in the house that’s not equipped with a tiger decoration!
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Greg (Ashley Braithwaite) Wallace, Geanine Wallace, Chassidy Gomer, Jonathan Gomer, Robert Gomer, Tyler Gomer; grandchildren, Sophia Tussing, Troy Allgire, Madalyn Wallace; siblings, Debbie, Robyn, Terry, Sherry, Bear; father, Robert Phillips; dear friend, Gloria Allgire; former spouses, Gene Wallace, and William Gomer; many nieces and nephews; and countless honorary children and loving friends.
There will be a Celebration of Ginny’s Life held at a later date. Anyone wishing to honor Ginny is asked to consider donating to her Tribute Fund to assist the family with funeral charges. On our darkest days, she was a ray of light, shining harder than the rest. May she rest in peace and her kindness carry on.
Mama bear I see clear
You’re always going to stand right there
Through light and dark
Your mark is made
With your children by your side
You shall never fade
If one shall slip
We cannot forget
The times that we made
Made with the time
The time you have gave
One day we will surely be by your side
This definitely isn’t’ the last time
We’ll see the bright and toxic glowing side
