Gilbert Perez

Gilbert Perez, 93, of North Baltimore, died Monday, November 6, 2017. He was born in Hebbronville, Texas on September 12, 1924 to Feorico and Innocenta (Garza) Perez. Gilbert served in the United States Navy during WWII. He married Josephine M. Kostas on January 15, 1973 in Angola, Indiana and she preceded him in death on September 30, 2016. He worked as a Co-coordinator of Maintenance Buildings for Bowling Green State University, where he retired after 21 years. Gilbert was a long time member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Perrysburg and the North Baltimore American Legion. Gilbert is survived by his son, Daniel Perez; brothers, Amador Perez, Abel Perez and Adan Perez and sister, Otelia Perez. Along with his wife, Josie, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Mae Smith, step-daughter, Josephine Huther and brother, Amando “Joe” Perez. Friends will be received Wednesday, November 8, 2017 from 5-7 P.M. at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary St., Perrysburg, OH (419-874-3133). A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Rose Catholic Church, 215 E. Front Street, Perrysburg, OH 43551; burial will follow in St. Rose Cemetery. Memorials may be made in the form of contributions to the National Children’s Cancer Society.
