Gertrude Tudie Elizabeth Mominee Johnson, 93, of Williston, Ohio, returned to her heavenly home on Sunday February 22, 2009. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her extensive family and friends. Tudie was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church in Walbridge, OH. Tudie was known to many simply as Mimi, the much loved matriarch of the familys century farm in Williston, OH. The S.A. Mominee farm formally known as J.J.Johnson Farm, where she was born, was the beloved homestead and gathering place for many, including siblings, children, cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and all of their extended families. Mimis greatest joy was when family gatherings filled the farm with laughter and merriment. Mimi was also proud that she raised her 3 siblings, Jeanette, Frances, and Johnny, while raising her six children. Mimi is survived by sons, David Sharon of Alpine, California, Dennis Donna of Martin, Ohio, Jay Katharine of Williston, Ohio daughters, Judy Disbennett of Curtice, Ohio, Jeanne Dechovitz of Glencoe, Illinois, and Janet Lagouranis of Santa Fe, New Mexico, sister Mrs. Frances Dean Lind of Naples, Florida, 17 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Sylvester Ves Mominee, formally of Momineetown, Ohio, son of Pearl and Frederick Mominee, pioneers of NW Ohio, parents Frances Schleicher Johnson and John J. Johnson, founding members of the Luther Home of Mercy and the Johnson Lumber Yard, writing the early history of Williston, brother, John Johnson of Columbia, South Carolina, and sisters Esmerelda Essie Buck Earl of Willoughby, OH, Charlotte Herron Dennis of Rocky River, Ohio and Jeanette Knowles Willis of Lorain, OH. Funeral Mass for Gertrude will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 26, 2009, at St. Jerome Catholic Church, Walbridge, OH. Visitation will take place Wednesday February 25, 2009, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home and Crematory, Genoa, OH with a Scripture service at 7:30 pm. Interment will take place in Allen Township Cemetery, Williston. Memorial contributions in memory of Gertrude may be directed to St. Jerome Catholic Church in Walbridge, OH.
