Gertrude Irmen Fetters, age 101, of Toledo, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2009 in Kingston Rehabilitation Center, Sylvania, Ohio. She was born on November 21, 1907 in Toledo to Paul and Gertrude Sawyer. A graduate of Waite High School, she worked at the former Commerce Guardian Bank, then went to work as a bookkeeper for Bartz Viviano Florist then worked at the University of Toledo. She volunteered for 22years at Flower Hospital as a Frog Lady making stuffed animals for children who were patients at the hospital. She also volunteered at Wildwood Manor House for over 20 years. In 2002, she received the State of Ohio Award as the Individual Volunteer of the Year from the Ohio Association of Historical Societies and Museums. Preceded in death by her husbands, Joseph N. Irmen and William Fetters, she is survived by son, Paul J. Marilynn Irmen; granddaughters, Cynthia Bruce Cleveland and Victoria Francis Vaughn Irmen; and many nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation. Memorial Services will be held Friday at 11 am at the First Unitarian Church, Glendale Ave., Toledo. The family suggests memorials to Wildwood Manor House.
