Geraldine Anna Smith

Geraldine Anna Smith, 84, of Perrysburg, Ohio passed away on October 31, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 10, 1930 in Toledo, Ohio to Willard D. and Verna (Mahaffey) Rickerd. She married Hadsel “Lee” Smith in Toledo on December 16, 1950. Geraldine adored music, especially Big Band and Jazz. She could play the piano and the accordion by ear. At the age of 5 she went to New York City and played the accordion for the Major Bowles Show. Geraldine enjoyed her many visits to Maine. She also loved fall; October was her favorite month. Geraldine could often be found in the kitchen making wonderful dishes and desserts for her family. She loved her family dearly and hoped her legacy was “to always have a song in your heart”. Geraldine is survived by her husband of 64 years, Hadsel “Lee” Smith; children, Michael Lee (Mary Kay) Smith, Jeanne Charmaine (James) Fehlen and Kevin Wayne (Pamela) Smith; grandchildren, Gregory (Dana), Kelly Ann (John), Sarah Marie (Greg), Michelle LeAnne (Michael) Adam Garrett (Lauren) and Nathan Conrad; nine great grandchildren; brother, John (Elaine) Rickerd and her beloved dog, Trooper. She is preceded in death by her parents; Willard and Verna, sisters, Mary Eileen Moon and Phyllis Jensen and grandchildren, Cole Michael and Jared Lee. Friends will be received on Monday, November 3, 2014 from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M. in the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 East South Boundary St., Perrysburg, Ohio 43551 (419-874-3133). Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. in Grace United Methodist Church, 601 East Boundary St., Perrysburg, Ohio 43551 with Rev. Dennis Ditto officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Meigs Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Toledo Humane Society, Grace United Methodist Church or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
