Geraldine M. Hughes, 86, of Maumee passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at the Kingston Residence of Perrysburg. She was born on February 2, 1926 in Archer City, Texas to John and Mary Goodwin Malone. On May 7, 1948 in Galveston, Texas she married Irvin Hughes, who has preceded her in death. Geraldine was a homemaker who loved to bowl. She was a member of the Womens Bowling International Conference for over 30 years. A true WWII historic icon, Geraldine was Rosie the Riveter who because of her small stature was the only one able to fit in the tail sections of the aircraft. Most importantly though, her grandchildren were the apple of her eye. Geraldine is survived by her daughter, Lillis James Nowaczyk, son, Irvin Jr. Susan, grandchildren, Elizabeth McMullian, Matthew Nowaczyk, Heather Hughes-Meek, Molly Rogers, great grandchildren, Morgan Rodgers, Fay McMullian, Alice Nowaczyk, and brother John Malone. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Herbert Hub, Patrick, and sisters, Carolyn, and Mary Joyce. Family and friends may call at Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St. Maumee on Monday, April 2, 2012 from 2pm-8pm. A celebration of Geraldines life will be held on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at 10am at the Funeral Home. Interment will immediately follow at Highland Memory Gardens.
