Geraldine Ann Bush, 86, formerly of Sylvania, died peacefully on September 26, 2014 in Grand Rapids, MI where she had been residing for the past 8 years. Gerry was born April 8, 1928 in Sandusky to the late Dorr and Gertrude (Kenney) Baker. She married George H. Bush on September 4, 1954 and he preceded her in death on June 11, 1990. Gerry was a graduate of St. Ursula Academy and Mary Manse College. Her lifes work was in giving of herself to her family as a homemaker and to the needs of the community in volunteer service. She was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sylvania where she attended daily Mass, sang in the funeral choir and served as a Eucharistic Minister including distributing Holy Communion to the sick and homebound. Gerry also volunteered for more than 30 years at Flower Hospital and delivered Mobile Meals. She also enjoyed traveling to Florida and spending time with family. Gerry was a woman of God whose unselfish and caring nature was felt by all she encountered. Even in her final hours, Gerry inspired others to be drawn closer to God. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, George Jeffrey Bush, Teresa Ann Selgo (Tim) and Lynn Marie Kalanquin (Todd); grandchildren, Jennifer Mitchell (Matt), Rachel Jonaitis (Charlie), Andrew Denner and Daniel Selgo; and great grandchildren, Tray and R.J. Mitchell. Gerry was also preceded in death by her brothers, Jack and Richard; and sisters, Alice Kelley, Margaret West and Patricia Baker. Visitation will be Monday from 4-7 p.m. in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) where a scripture service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Services will begin with prayers in the funeral home on Tuesday at 9:30 A.M. and proceed to St. Josephs Church, 5373 Main St., Sylvania, for 10:00 A.M. funeral Mass. Burial will follow at Ravine Cemetery, Sylvania. Memorials are suggested to Clark Retirement Community directed to Keller Lake Life Enrichment, 2457 Forest Hills SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at both Clark Retirement Community and Hospice of Michigan for their compassionate care of Gerry.
