Geraldine E. Barron

Geraldine E. (Belch) Barron, 93, of Millbury, died Friday December 23, 2016 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. She was born in Millbury to Alva and Helen (Diefenthaler) Belch on November 1, 1923. On June 5, 1946, Geraldine married Alphonsus L. “Red” Barron, who preceded her in death in 2014. A longtime church member, Geraldine served on various committees at First Congregational Church of Toledo and St. Peters United Church of Christ, sang in church choirs, participated in church bell choir, was a member of the Genoa Eastern Stars, and belonged to the Women’s VFW Erie Post 3925. Geraldine enjoyed activities with family and friends, but especially enjoyed her grandchildren. Attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and activities made her extremely proud and brought great joy to her life. Geraldine also loved the time spent with her dear friends from Erie, MI, including summers spent at Wamplers Lake. She worked for years as a Study Hall Monitor and Teacher’s Aid for the Lake Local School System. She will be truly missed, but her family finds great comfort knowing she is dancing in heaven with her husband, “Red”. Geraldine is survived by her loving family; daughters, Cheryl Barron, Kimberly (Ron) Thornsberry, Margene (Randy) Akenberger; grandchildren, Aubry (Kyle) Brown, Rilee Akenberger, Cole Thornsberry, Caan Thornsberry; and great-grandchild, Sydney Grace Brown. Friends will be received on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 701 N. Main Street, Walbridge, OH (419-666-3121). A Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home with burial in Lake Township Cemetery to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E. River Road, Perrysburg, Ohio. The family would also like to express their appreciation for the exceptional love and care they received from Otterbein Portage Valley and Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg.
