WalkerGerald LouisGerald was born in Toledo, Ohio and died from a rare and virulent cancer of the appendix on July 2, 2007. Gerald graduated from St. Francis de Sales High School in 1995. He graduated with honors from the Colorado Institute of Fine Arts with degrees in Computer Science and Art in 1998. Gerald developed his computer art and became fascinated with glass blowing. He studied glass blowing in Wisconsin and developed a flourishing glass blowing business. His innovative figures have been compared to Rodin. His use of color and form were innovative and brilliant. A virulent cancer cut short his promising career.Gerald was fascinated with computers and electronic communications. He loved to set up and teach the less knowledgeable how to operate their equipment. Gerald was fascinated with energy saving devices especially with wind generated electricity. Just prior to his being felled by his last bout with cancer, Gerald was in the process of building a wind turbine farm. Gerald held many patents for safety aids for the elderly who were home and alone.Gerald was a constant companion to his grandmother, Alice C. Walker, in her later years. Gerald was proud to escort his grandmother on shopping trips, bring her to his home for dinner and cards, and other outings.
