On Tuesday, March 16, 2021, Gerald “Jerry” H. Stripling, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at Toledo Hospital at the age of 82. Jerry was born on December 8, 1938 in Detroit, MI to Eura and Ruby (Smith) Stripling. He was a 1956 graduate of Western High School in Michigan and also attended Walsh Business School. Jerry worked at GM for 31 years retiring in 1990. Upon retirement, he owned a Nursing Home in Capac, Michigan for 10 years. Jerry is survived by his wife of 17 years, Karen Genzman Stripling; his four children Christine Stripling of Lebanon, OH, Carrie (Larry) Starks of Fort Wayne, IN, Kevin (Chantel) Stripling of St. Clair Shores, MI, and Cassie Coffey of Warren, MI. Step-children Angie (John) LaFountain of Elmore, OH, Matt (Heidi) Genzman of St. Clair Shores, MI, David Steinmetz of Tiffin, OH, and Bethann (Rich) Motes of Talking Rock, GA. Grandchildren: Chelsy, Brad (Veronica), Alicia, Kevin, Christopher, Jake, and Luke. Step-Granchildren: Nicole, Derek, Bailey, John, Brendan, Taylor, Cassidy, and Emmalee. Great Grandchildren: Cathan, Celeste, Noah, Olivia, Amelia, and Tyler. He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife Corene (Long) Stripling. Jerry was a former member of the Port Clinton Moose and Elks Club. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, casinos, Michigan Wolverines, Detroit Tigers, Alabama Football (Roll Tide), and he especially looked forward to “happy hour and hors d’oeuvres every night with his wife. Visitation for Jerry will be Friday, March 19, 2021 from 2-6 pm at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Utica Cemetery, Shelby Township, MI. Memorial contributions in memory of Jerry may be given to Mid-County E.M.S., 222 W. Washington St., Oak Harbor, OH 43449 or The American Cancer Society. The family would like to give a special thank you to Mid-County E.M.S., Portage Fire Department, and Oak Harbor Police Department for their assistance and support of Jerry whenever they were summoned.
