Gerald Jerry R. Sandwisch, 74, of Oak Harbor, OH died Thursday, February 21, 2008 in the Ocean Springs Hospital, Ocean Springs, Mississippi. He was born on May 24, 1933 in Toledo, OH to Rudolph H. and Margaret S. Schorefeide Sandwisch. He attended Solomon Lutheran Parochial School in Woodville and graduated from Woodville High School in 1951. On November 6, 1954 in Oak Harbor he married JoAnne C. Sorg, and she survives. Gerald had owned and operated a self employed trucking business for over 41 years, known as J. Sandwisch Trucking of Oak Harbor since 1955. He started out hauling milk in the early years and he also owned and operated a construction business in the 1970s known as Island Construction. Gerald and JoAnne also owned a home on Middle Bass Island since 1968, where they enjoyed spending a lot of time together there. He was currently driving a delivery truck for Moores Orchard in Oak Harbor. Gerald is survived by his loving wife of over 53 years, JoAnne; sons: Douglas G. Sandwisch of Oak Harbor and Jeffrey R. Lori Sandwisch of Oak Harbor; daughter: Mary B. Jim Ebel of Oak Harbor; 10 grandchildren: Josh Holli Goetz, Jeremy Andrea Goetz, Matthew Sandwisch, Michael Melody Sandwisch, Brian Sandwisch, Jack Sandwisch, Vicky Brad Smith, Dan Danielle Sandwisch, Nathan Sandwisch, and Zachary Sandwisch; 6 great grandchildren: Hunter, Hannah and Hailie Smith, Karly and Alivia Goetz, and Jacob Sandwisch. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home, Oak Harbor. Visitation will be Monday from 2-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Limestone Cemetery, Graytown. Memorial contributions may be given to any hospice organization.
