Gerald C. Rieff, 70, of Oak Harbor, OH died Sunday, May 31, 2009 at the Riverview Healthcare Campus, Oak Harbor. He was born on March 8, 1939 in Woodville, OH to Henry and Edith Wittman Rieff. He graduated from Heidelberg College with a bachelors degree. Gerald worked as a chemist for the former Hayward Co. for 5 years and the Fiske Brothers Refining Co. for 36 years, retiring in 2002. He was a member of St. Pauls United Church of Christ in Oak Harbor, Moose Lodge #1610 of Port Clinton, and a NRA Life Member. Gerald enjoyed playing the piano and saxophone and played for 38 years with The Polka Aces Band. He also enjoyed gardening and farming. Survivors include: special companion: Brenda Gates, nephew: Curt Rieff, niece: Amy Rieff, and sister-in-law: Carol Rieff. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother: Eugene Rieff, and brother: Arlo Rieff. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 4, 2009 at St. Pauls United Church of Christ, Oak Harbor. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 3, 2009 from 2-8 p.m., with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Oak Harbor. Interment will be in Elliston Cemetery, Elliston, OH. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Pauls United Church of Christ, Oak Harbor or the Luther Home of Mercy, Williston, OH.
