Gerald W. Hawthorne, age 93 of Maumee passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2012 in St. Lukes Hospital. He was born September 6, 1919 in Toledo to Clarence and Elsie Hawthorne. A 1937 graduate of Whitmer High School, he was a veteran of World War II. He served in the army, where he received both a Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Gerald was a tool and die maker for the former Doehler Jarvis Company for 31 years retiring in 1971. A member of the Lotus Lodge of F AM. He was a loving husband and father and enjoyed being with his family, especially his grandchildren. Preceded in death by his first wife, Faye and children Jerry and Bonnie Hawthorne, he is survived by his wife Anna; sons Ray Kathy Hawthorne, John Connie Larkin and George Larkin; daughter Inge Jeff Klopping; grandchildren Danielle Matt Sprague, Dustin Klopping, Brandon Elizabeth Larkin, Georgianne Aaron Roberts, Tiffany Ann Miller, Jeremy Jill Hawthorne, Jamie Carlos Ruiz and James Joreen Hensley; 12 great-grandchildren; and sister Jeanette Campbell. Friends will be received at the Walker Funeral Home 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey on Friday from 4-8 PM. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 AM in Reformation Lutheran Church 4543 Douglas Rd. Toledo where visitation will be one hour prior. Entombment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park.
