Gerald G. Flis, 75, of Oregon, OH passed away Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Kingston Rehab in Perrysburg, OH. He was born on May 6, 1946 in Cleveland, OH to Walter and Delores (Cerny) Flis. Gerald graduated from Danbury High School in 1964 and served in the U.S. Army National Guard. He worked for Conrail/Norfolk Southern Railroad for over 35 years. He married his wife “Barbara” in September 1979. Gerald was known to be a hard worker and worked lots of over-time and extra shifts. Growing up on the water he learned to drive a boat before a car. He enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting, muscle cars, good friends and good food. He loved going out to eat, he knew all the waitresses, and insisted on paying when taking a friend. One of his favorite hangouts was Meinke Marina-West in Curtice, OH, where he enjoyed spending time with his friends, boating, camping, and giving his dog “Sammy” a ride in his golf cart. Gerald is survived by his children, Michelle “Shelley” Flis, Monica (Tim) Pio, Bryan (Staci) Flis, Lisa (Andy) Groom, and Denise (Brian Porter) Van Camp, 11 grandchildren, Amanda, Andrea (Phil), Brianna, Megan, Zaven, Nathan, Ryan, Madison “Maddie”, Justin, Kaylee, and Miranda, and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2nd wife, Barbara J. Flis. Visitation for Gerald will be Thursday, November 18, 2021 from 4-8 p.m. at the Walker Funeral Home Oregon Chapel, 3500 Navarre Ave, Oregon, OH where funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 19, 2021 with additional visitation one hour prior beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will take place in Lake Township Cemetery.
