Gerald H. Disher of Whitehouse, Ohio, peacefully completed his earthly journey of 92 years and entered into eternal life on Tuesday, July 05, 2016 to be with his maker. Gerald was born April 24, 1924 in Waterville, Ohio. The only child to Jake and Lottie Mae (Wintersten) Disher. He was raised in Toledo and graduated from Scott High School in 1942. His military service during World War II was with the marines for two and a half years in the Pacific Theater. He and Helen Mae Noll were married in 1946. Together, they enjoyed 42 years of marriage and raised two children; a daughter, Linda and a son, Jeff. Gerald worked at Owens Illinois in the Credit Department and retired from there in 1983. His wife Helen preceded him in death in 1988. He then traveled to England, something he always wanted to do. He liked to play golf and scored two holes-in-one. He was a good dancer and at a Widows and Widowers dance he met his Soul Mate, Jane Ashenfelter. They had a Ceremony of Love in the Church and have been together for 22 years. Gerald was a soft spoken and a family man who loved his grandchildren. He was a member of the Epiphany Lutheran Church and later joined the First Presbyterian Church in Waterville. He was a member of the Maumee Elks Lodge and a member of the Whitehouse American Legion and the Waterville Historical Society. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, his wife; Helen, grandparents; John & Barbara Disher and George & Cora Haley. He always talked about the great memories of his grandparents. Survivors include his daughter; Linda (Ron) Stender, son; Jeff (Denise), four grandchildren; Tara, Tami, John & Emily, two great grandchildren; Landen and Audrey and his soul mate; Jane. The family will receive friends at the Neville Funeral Home, Southwest Chapel, 7438 Airport Highway, Holland, Ohio (419-865-8879) from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, July 10, 2016. Services will take place at First Presbyterian Church, 611 Farnsworth Rd., Waterville, Ohio at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 11, 2016 with interment following at Wakeman Cemetery in Waterville. Gerald’s family would like to express their gratitude to Hospice of Northwest Ohio and the girls at Browning Masonic Community for providing comfort and loving care. Memorial contributions may be made in Gerald’s name to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or to the First Presbyterian Church, Waterville.
