George L. Ulmer

Ulmer George L. George L. Ulmer, 91, died August 26th, 2009 at Swan Creek Assisted Living after a brief illness. He is survived by his loving wife Jeanne nee Michaelis of 68 years; sons Douglas Ulmer MD Jeanne of Long Beach, CA and George W. Ulmer Bonnie of Park City, UT; daughter Carole Kay Robert of Sarasota, FL; grandchildren Jennifer Kay of Cleveland, OH and Kirsten and Naish Ulmer of Park City, UT; and two sisters Dorothy Frey of Toledo, OH and Kathryn Palka John of Duarte, CA. George graduated from Libbey High School in 1936 and his studies at UT were interrupted by WWII where he served in the Army as a second lieutenant. He began his career in mechanical engineering at the former Toledo firm Kaighin & Hughes where he worked 25 years. The remainder of his career was spent in southern California where he traveled to different parts of the country and world overseeing construction of major fuel processing plants. He and his wife returned to Holland, OH ten years ago. He was a member of the Shriners and American Legion. A private family memorial service was held September 4, 2009.
