George Szymanski

George Szymanski, 93, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on February 28, 2026. He was born January 4, 1933, in Toledo to Walter and Cecilia (Nowaczyk) Szymanski.

Known lovingly as Uncle George, he was a constant and caring presence in the lives of his nieces and nephews. Family meant everything to him. He had a quiet way of showing his love, often through thoughtful and simple gestures that meant more than words. During his years working at the General Mills factory in Toledo, he would always make sure the cereal box prizes found their way to his nieces and nephews. He enjoyed collecting State quarter sets and proudly gave them as gifts. He was always stopping into stores, looking for a good deal on something he could pass along to someone in the family.

George proudly served eight years in the United States Army and the Army Reserves. He was a devoted Ohio State football fan and a lifelong Detroit Tigers fan. He also enjoyed staying active and often referred to his trips to the gym as going to "the spa."

Holidays were especially important to him. He loved being surrounded by family, and his nieces and nephews have many fond memories of growing up with him always nearby. He was steady, kind, and genuinely caring, always willing to help and always thinking of others before himself.

He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Jim (Deanna) Szymanski, Craig (Renee) Szymanski, Cheryl (Paul) Rahe, and Lynn Zachrich, along with many great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Cecilia (Nowaczyk) Szymanski; his brother, Richard Szymanski; and his sister, Theresa Kinney.

George will be cremated, and a private family burial will take place at Toledo Memorial Park. He will be remembered for his generosity, his loyalty to family, and the quiet ways he showed his love throughout his life.
