ROSENBROOK George B. George Rosenbrook, 88 years, of Toledo OH, died Saturday, February 18, 2012, at home surrounded by his loving family. The son of George and Rose Kaiser Rosenbrook, he was employed for 42 years as a car man with the N &W Railroad. A master wood craftsman, George delighted in making beautiful furniture and rocking toys for his grandchildren. His Christmas lights displays were famous in the community, even appearing on the local nightly news. George also enjoyed family gatherings, the Detroit Tigers and traveling. George proudly served his country in the Army with the 66th Infantry Division and fought at the Battle of the Bulge. In October he and his son Paul flew with Honor Flight to Washington D.C. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Esther Purtee; brothers, Paul and Frank; sister, Leona; he is survived by his children, Georgia (Bob) Power, Paul (Lynn) Rosenbrook, Michael (Judy) Rosenbrook, Karen (Pat) Phillips, and Jane (Calvin) McGriff. He also leaves his sisters, Rosemarie Berkel and Barbara (Bud) Jude; 19 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He also leaves his loyal companion, Black Jack, a faithful Pomeranian. Visitation at Hoeflinger-Bolander Funeral Home, 3500 Navarre Ave. will be on Tuesday, February 21, 2012, from 2:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin with prayers at the funeral home on Wednesday at 8:45 a.m. and proceed to Sacred Heart Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Ignatius Cemetery. The family gives special thanks to George's granddaughter, Julie who gave up her job to move in with Pa. Her loving care allowed him to stay in the home he loved for the last 14 months.
