George Peuhl

November 28, 1948 — August 15, 2015

George Peuhl, age 66, left this earth suddenly on Saturday August 15, 2015 at his home. The son of George and Rose Peuhl, he was born November 28, 1948 in Toledo, OH. He was a 1966 graduate of Whitmer High School. Following high school, he apprenticed at Toledo Scale. He worked at Bingham Stamping as a tool and die maker and later retired from Jeep as a Mechanical Engineer. George was an amazing athletic individual and an extremely accomplished runner, cross country skier and cyclist. He could outperform athletes half his age. He was a member of Maumee Valley Wheelman and a past club champion as well as the Toledo Roadrunners winning the Toledo Classic at one time. He enjoyed golfing with his son. George was active with the Greater Toledo YMCA and generously volunteered his time there. He also coached track at Southview and Start high schools over a 20 year span. He was a real war history enthusiast, especially the Civil War. He was an exceptional friend and was never without a smile. He never liked to be by himself. If you were with him, he did not necessarily have to interact with you, but appreciated your presence. He would get this twinkle in his eye, you never knew if it was something funny coming or if he was getting ready to engage you in a debate just for the sake of a good discussion. George had an outgoing personality that endeared people to him. But to know George was to know that he adored his family, especially his children, for whom he would do anything in the world. The two youngest had him wrapped around their fingers and his oldest was like a best friend. She was his go to when he needed company and just a partner in spending time. His memory will be cherished by his wife, Theresa Mariea; children, Melissa (Glenn) Weisner, Brenden and Julia; grandson, Conrad Weisner; sister, Sylvia Thomas; his dogs, Ottawa & Max and a host of loving in-laws, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his sister, Norma Jean Smith. Friends may visit the family on Saturday from 2-9 PM at the Walker Funeral Home 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd). A memorial service will be held on Sunday at 1:00 PM at Hope Lutheran Church 2201 Secor Rd Toledo, OH 43606. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in the name of Theresa Mariea at any Great Lakes Credit Union location. The funds will be used to fulfill Georges request of a memorial bench at Wildwood MetroPark. Condolences may be shared with the family at walkerfuneralhomes.com.
