George M. Pauwels, Sr.

George M. Pauwels, Sr., age 84, of Perrysburg, died November 4, 2021. He was born November 30, 1936, in Toledo to the late Marcel and Frances (Jockett) Pauwels, the third of eleven children. George served in the United States Navy for six years and was employed as a clerk with CSX Railroad for 37 years. He also worked as an Auxiliary Police Officer for the Genoa Police Department. George had simple tastes. He was honest and unbothered; did not fuss or complain. He was an artist and master of all things he took on. George was gracious, generous, loyal, and honorable; serious when he needed to be. To his family, there was no better example of how a man should conduct himself and look after his family. He was an avid reader, coin collector and dealer, woodworker, and baseball fan, especially of the Atlanta Braves. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 63 years, Pamela; children, George Jr. (Cyndi), Robert (Diana), Rebecca (Dana) Dickman, and Peggie Bittner; grandchildren, Megan (Seth), Stephen, Christopher (Jamie), Eric, David (Megan), Scott, Thomas “T.J.” (Brooke), Joshua (Jessica), and Sarah (Cody); and seventeen great grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to visit from 1-5 p.m., Sunday in the Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home, 222 E. S. Boundary St., Perrysburg, where funeral services will be held at 12 noon, Monday, November 8, 2021. Burial will follow at Lake Township Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Perrysburg Township Fire Department.
