George “Bud” Harold Horsman, age 89, of East Toledo passed away Saturday, June 20, 2015. He was born on September 1, 1925 to George I. and Anna (Maurer) Horsman. George was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Patricia Ann Nopper. George was a career railroader, following in his father and grandfather’s footsteps. He worked for the B & O Railroad (1944), the New York Central (1948), the Penn Central (1968) and Conrail (1976-1985). He retired as a Material Foreman in 1985 after 41 years of service. His memberships were Honorary Life Member of St. Jerome’s Knights of Columbus, Council # 11450, Life Member of B.M.O.W.D. 1037. In his younger years he was active in the Boy Scouts of America, Neighborhood Commissioner, Asst. District Commissioner, awarded Arrowhead Honor and also Commissioner’s Key. He was also the Secretary to the Catholic Scouting Committee of the Toledo Diocese. George was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church for 82 years. He was always active in parish organizations. He was also a member of the Oak and Fassett Breakfast Group. George was proud of his German heritage and belongs to German American Festival Retirees and German Beneficial Union #510. George leaves a loving wife of 62 years, Josephine (Walkowiak) Horsman; daughter Barbara (Robert) Mason; and sons George J. (Cheryl), Christopher (Marc), and Andrew J. (Deb). He also leaves the following grandchildren: Jason (Devon) Horsman, Emily (David) Routh, Nicholas, and Lisa; great grandchildren, Gabriel, Ezra, and Evelyn. Memorial Contributions can be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Toledo. All services will be private.
