George A. Heilman

George A. Heilman, 89, a lifelong Genoa resident, passed away on January 10, 2021 at his residence after a short illness. He was born in Genoa on November 17, 1931 to Arthur and Elsie (Schlegel) Heilman. George married Rose (Lehman) in Elmore, Ohio on September 24, 1950 and she preceded him in death on January 18, 2003. George later married Rose Marie and she also preceded him in death on April 25, 2015. George was a machinist for American Ship Building, Merce Industries and Toledo Ship Repair, for many years. He was well known by family and friends for his woodworking skills, gardening, wine making and his puzzle working! He enjoyed dancing, of all types, and giving those great “George hugs”! George was also a beloved longtime member of the Elmore Church of God, where he had many friends. George is survived by his loving family; children, Glenda (Randal) McDaniel, Mark (Penny) Heilman, Beth (Ronald) DeVries and Stephen (Cynthia) Heilman; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and sister, Nancy Conley. He was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Rose and Rosemarie; sons, Arthur and Frank Heilman; and siblings, Hilda Cluckey, Velma Wohn, Carol Miller, Lillian Dezanett, Robert, James and Lewis Heilman. Visitation for George will be held from 4-7 pm, on Thursday, January 14, 2021 in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St. Genoa, Ohio. Social Distancing and masks will be required at all times. Private family services will be scheduled later.
