George Donahue, 77, a life-long south Toledoan, died after a brief illness on October 15, 2009, at St. Vincents Hospital. Son of Lawrence and Marie Donahue, he was born on September 3, 1932. He was married 54 years to Julie Straub Donahue, who preceded him in death in 2008. He is survived by his seven children, sixteen grandchildren, one great grandson and his sister, Ellen Kaltenbach. George attended Immaculate Conception Darby grade school, Central Catholic High School, and graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a chemistry degree. He enjoyed his 38 years of work and worldwide travel as a ceramic engineer for Owens-Illinois. His retirement years were spent golfing, reading, wintering in Leesburg, Florida and visits with family. He is survived by seven children Mary Lance Brown, Steve, Martha and Dan Donahue, Amy Glenn Newman, Susan Albert Bachmayer, Sarah Mike Krafty; grandchildren, Jordan and Laurel Brown, Chloe Dan and Spirit Donahue, Colleen Donahue, Faith, Daniel and Claire Newman, Carl, Grace, Julie, Mary and Ellen Bachmayer, Erin, Adam and Mikey Krafty and great grandson Nash Clifton-Northey; special friends Jakob Gassner and Dick Hoppe. Family and friends may visit Sunday from 2-8 p.m. at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant, Maumee where a Scripture Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, October 19, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, Western at Broadway.
