George G. Cantu, 74 of Marblehead, Ohio passed away on Monday, August 16, 2021 at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky, Ohio. He was born on October 17, 1946, in Sandusky, Ohio, the son of Ambrosio and Santos (Gonzalez) Cantu. On May 17, 1969 he married Dolores Mares and she survives. George graduated from Port Clinton High School in 1966 where he played football. He worked at U.S. Gypsum, USCO, Standard Slag Quarry, and then worked for E & L as a truck driver for 28 years retiring in 2006. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Port Clinton. He enjoyed playing softball for USCO, avid bowler, fishing, vegetable gardening, raising chickens, avid reader, computer strategy games and his aquarium. He enjoyed watching the Cleveland Indians, Cavaliers, Browns and The Ohio State Buckeyes. Most importantly, he loved his family, vacationing, and spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Dolores; daughter, Brenda Cantu; son, Steve Cantu; grandchildren, Madeline Ingram, Taylor Ingram, Jack J. Cantu, Lia Cantu and Tessa Cantu. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his uncle, Agapito “Pete” Gonzalez. Visitation will be held at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home, 216 Washington Street, Port Clinton, Ohio on Friday, August 20, 2021 from 6-8 pm. On Saturday, August 21, 2021, additional visitation will be held from 12:30 until Services at 1:30 pm with Fr. Jonathan Wight officiating.
