George R. Bradner, age 78, of South Toledo, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 24, 2012 at Coghlin Rehabilitation Center at UTMC. He was born on September 16, 1934 to Virgil and Cecile Workman Bradner in Fostoria, Ohio. George is a 1952 graduate of Macomber Vocational High School. He met his high school sweetheart on the Front Street bus every morning, who attended Whitney. They were married right out of high school and nearly made 60 years. George worked at LOF for 37 years. He was a charter member of R.E.A.C., Maumee Eagles retired group and served as President, and Vice President several times. George really enjoyed the many trips and friendships he made with the club, especially the gambling trips. They bought a timeshare in Las Vegas in 1972 and enjoyed at least a 2 week vacation there every year. After their 2012 vacation in May, he was diagnosed with lung cancer in both lungs. His second lung was operated on November 27, 2012 and he has been in and out of ICU until now. George was very proud of his Buckeye Country basement and was an avid fan of OSU. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Debra and brothers, Charles and John. George will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 59 years, Delores; son, Jeffrey; sister, Maxine Teague; adoring granddaughters, Courtney Felt and Brittney Bradner; and many special nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 30, 2012 at 2:00 PM at St. Petri Lutheran Church, 3120 Bryne Road, Toledo. Memorial contributions may be made in Georges honor to St. Petri Lutheran Church or a charity of the donors choice.
