George Pete A. Allen, 78, of Middletown, Ohio, died Thursday, August 21, 2008, in the Genoa Retirement Village. Pete was born June 25, 1930, in Erie, Pennsylvania, to Lafayette and Berdina Adams Allen. On July 3, 1951, in Middletown he married the late Mary M. Clem. Pete owned and operated Pete Allen Excavating for 58 years and also served in the U.S. Navy. He was an avid reader; specifically, history, novels, and fiction. Fishing with his brother, Luckey, in his pond was one of Petes favorite pastimes. He was very family oriented and loved his dog, Axel. Pete is survived by his children, Amber Scott Kennedy of Sarasota, FL, Jacqulyn Roger Champion of Millbury, and George A. Teresa Allen of Middletown, OH; grandchildren, Farrah, Raven, Stacie, Scherrie, Shaun, Katelyn, Matt, Kerri, and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mary, sister, Isabelle, and brothers, Lucky and Eugene. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held from 2-4 p.m. Friday, August 29, 2008, at the Woodside Cemetery chapel in Middletown. The family has suggested memorials to the Ottawa County Humane Society, or the Butler or Warren County Paws Organization. Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory in Genoa has assisted with arrangements.
