George A. Libben, 86, of Port Clinton, Ohio passed away at home with his family by his side on Saturday, May 1, 2021. He was born at the homestead on August 12, 1934 in Port Clinton, Ohio, the son of the late Arthur and Harriet (Mawer) Libben. On December 27, 1958 in Kenton, Ohio, he married Doris Lowe and she survives. George graduated in 1952 from Oak Harbor High School. He then began working on the family farm where he continued throughout his lifetime. He was a hard worker and spent countless hours in the fields tending to his crops and raising dairy cattle. He was a confirmed member of St. John Lutheran Church, Port Clinton; Member of the Ohio National Guard; an Erie Township Trustee; Founding member of the Erie Township Fire Department where he served 5 years as Fire Chief; and member of the Farm Bureau Council. He enjoyed family vacations and following his grandchildren’s activities. Most importantly, he loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. Survivors include his loving wife, Doris; sons, Kevin (Sandy) Libben, Albion, Indiana, Dale (Patty) Libben, Perrysville, Ohio, Ronald (Jennifer) Libben, Port Clinton; daughter, Ann (Raymond) David, Martin, Ohio; grandchildren, Rachel, Keith (Melanie), Kenny Libben; Marcus (Erin) Frank; MaryAnn (Jacob) Wilson, Ashley Libben, Courtney (Eric) Arney, Benjamin David, Abigail David, Alyssa Libben, Jackie Libben; five great grandchildren; sisters, Jean Solem, Port Clinton and Elizabeth Libben, Huron, Ohio; brothers, Robert (Barb) Libben, Port Clinton, and Paul Libben, Port Clinton. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Norma West, Carolyn Puskas, and infant brother, Richard. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 7, 2021 from 3:30-7:00 pm at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home, 216 Washington Street, Port Clinton, Ohio. Additional visitation will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2021 from 10 am until Funeral Services at 11 am at St. John Lutheran Church, 207 Adams Street, Port Clinton, Ohio with Pastor Dave Westphal officiating. Burial will follow in LaCarpe Cemetery, Erie Township. Masks are required and social distancing guidelines are to be followed.
