Geoffrey Allen Cottier, 70, of Monclova, Ohio, passed away Friday, May 18, 2018, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Maumee after a short, unexpected illness. Geoff was born in Fremont, Ohio on October 13, 1947 to John and Donna Cottier who preceded him in death, along with brother John Patrick, and stepson Andrew Whittenburg. Geoff is survived by his wife Page, son Dan, stepchildren Hans Whittenburg, Page Whittenburg, sisters Susan (Jeff) Barley, Laura (Ron) Calhoun, Amy (Oscar) Reza, and Ann (Steve) Hughes, nieces and nephews Kerry (Paul) Hurd, Brent (Hiromi) Barley, Katie (Bradley) Mayer, Patrick Calhoun, Owen and Sophia Reza, Robert and Samantha Hughes, and granddaughter Sarah De Leon, along with eight grand nieces and nephews. Geoff was a graduate of Maumee High School, The Ohio State University, and completed his law degree at the University of Toledo. He was an avid naturalist and horticulturist, as well as a brilliant pianist. Before finishing law school, he taught in Maumee City Schools. Geoff was a magistrate for Defiance County for over 35 years, in addition to his law practice. Friends may visit the family on Thursday May 24, 2018 from 12:00-1:00 p.m. with a celebration of his life held on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Maison-Dardenne Walker Funeral Home, at 501 Conant Street, Maumee, Ohio.
