Genevieve Alice Haeft, 92, of Genoa, OH died Saturday, January 22, 2022. She was born in 1929 to Harry and Blanche Wiessinger of Butler County, PA, the youngest of six brothers and five sisters, and they all preceded her in death. Robert Haeft, her beloved husband of 60 years, preceded her in death in 2008.
She is survived by her son, Kenneth Haeft, of Genoa, and his two sons, Chris (Jill) Haeft and their two children of Perrysburg and Erik (Jessi) Haeft and their six children of Warren, IN. She is also survived by many nieces & nephews.
Jean, as she was called by many, was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Genoa where she was in charge of kitchen duties, including funeral luncheons for many years. Jean was the person the pastor called when notified of a death in the congregation. She took it upon herself to plan the entire funeral luncheon.
Jean, who began her working life at age 15 later worked as both waitress and cook for the well-known Genoa restaurant Star & Lil’s until it closed in 1978. She also volunteered her services to the American Legion Auxiliary Post #324 in Genoa for 42 years. She will be missed by many.
Funeral services for Jean will be conducted 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 27, 2022 at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa, OH with visitation two hours prior to the services from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa, OH. Memorial contributions in memory of Jean may be given to the Dementia Society Association Foundation ( www.dementiasociety.org ) Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com .
