Geneva R. Sirmans

Geneva R. Sirmans, age 84 of Oregon, Ohio passed away Friday, August 10, 2012 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center. She was born in Berrien County, Georgia on January 21, 1928 to Harris and Bessie (Griner) Jones and on June 24, 1945 she married John J. Sirmans. Geneva attended both Euclid and Grace United Methodist Church. She was a former Girl Scout Leader, Head of the Parent Teacher Association at Raymer Elementary School, the Engineer’s Wives Club and the Red Hats Society. She is survived by her children, G. June (Carl) Calderhead, Carla (Tony) Zsigray, Susan (James) Ault; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; daughter in law, Karen Sirmans; sister, Ida Atwood; brother, Roy (Betty) Jones. Geneva was preceded in death by her parents, Harris and Bessie Jones; husband, John J. Sirmans as well as her son, John A. Sirmans. Family and friends will be received on Monday, August 13, 2012 from 2-5 P.M. and 6-9 P.M. in Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 701 N. Main Street in Walbridge (419-666-3121) where funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. Geneva will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, John at Lake Township Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Geneva’s name to the American Cancer Society.
