In Loving Memory of Gayna Dae Pulliam

Gayna Dae Pulliam, age 85, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, creativity, and joy. Born on Leap Day in 1940 to Larry and Marie (Rounds) McGee, Gayna loved sharing the story of her unique birthday and the playful meaning behind her name—“Gain A Day.”

On July 22, 1961, Gayna married Eugene “Gene” Pulliam, the love of her life. Together, they shared 48 beautiful years filled with laughter, adventure, and devotion until Gene’s passing in 2009. Their favorite memories included casino getaways, weekend camping trips, and the serenity of their retirement years spent in their country home in Blissfield, Michigan.

Gayna was a self-taught and accomplished seamstress whose talent and dedication were stitched into every outfit, curtain, especially the wedding gowns she lovingly designed for her daughters’ weddings. Her creativity extended beyond fabric, as she found joy in decorating her home and celebrating her American Indian heritage through her cherished collection of Native American artwork and artifacts.

For the past five years, Gayna resided at the Lakes of Monclova, where she was affectionately known as the “Lady of the Lakes.” Her sweet—and sometimes spicy—personality brought joy to staff and residents alike. She formed deep bonds, especially with her roommate Ms. Ruth, whom she fondly called a “good egg.” If you were one of Gayna’s “good eggs,” know that she loved you like family.

An animal lover at heart, Gayna delighted in attracting birds to her feeders and shared her life with several beloved canine companions. Gayna found happiness in life’s simple pleasures: music at happy hour, cuddling with her stuffed companions Blackie and Buddie, sharing meals with loved ones—especially meatloaf and mashed potatoes—and indulging in mini muffins and butterscotch pudding. She often said, “This is the good stuff,” and she meant it.

Gayna is survived by her daughters Shannon (Brent) Nimeth and Sheryl (Ron) Stone; grandchildren Sarah (Joe) Stitt, Kate (Luke) Porter, Meghan Stone, Alex Stone, and Paul Nimeth; great-grandchildren Sage, Rose, Audrey, Olive, and Dean and a new great-grandchild expected in March 2026; brother Roy McGee; sister-in-law Gloria (Bob) Turner; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Rosemarie Wall, and twin brothers Bob and Bill McGee.

The family would like to extend a very special “Thank You” to the staff at The Lakes of Monclova for their exceptional care of Gayna, as well as Hospice of Northwest Ohio.

Gayna’s life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and resilience. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know her.
